Our experience in the Alaska market began in 1986 when the owner of North Star Transport established the operation of a major LTL carrier in Anchorage. The experience of creating that major LTL carrier operation has provided us with the knowledge and understanding to operate seamlessly with the LTL carriers handling shipments into our facilities in Seattle.
Shipments generally move prepaid to our facilities in Seattle via common carrier. The shipper enjoys the benefit of carrier pricing to Seattle, plus the benefit of our pricing beyond Seattle to Alaska. LTL carrier pricing generally does not include Alaska and this has provided us the opportunity to assist shippers in reducing their transportation costs.
Southcentral, Interior, Far North, and Southwest regions are handled through the 18209 80th Ave So, Ste B (Kent, WA 98032) facility moving via ship service, except as noted below. Remote locations in Far North and Southwest are served via air cargo or By-pass Mail over Anchorage. Seasonal barge service is available to some locations. Contact us for more information on service options to Alaska's remote locations.
The Southeast region is handled through the 6700 W Marginal Way SW facility moving via barge service.
Following is a map of Alaska showing its five distinct regions. Included are the Seattle facility addresses, bill of lading information, corresponding transit available, and major communities in each region.
